CRD (Crystal Reports Distributor) is an automation tool for business intelligence professionals and decision makers within any size organization who are looking to automate the generation and delivery of their crystal reports. CRD enables users to set up schedules to run reports at any preferred frequency. Reports can be output in various formats including Word, Excel, Acrobat, HTML, RTF, text format, and more, and are automatically delivered to any email, folder, printer, fax, Sharepoint, DropBox FTP or SFTP. Reports can be set to run at a specific date and time, and hourly, weekly, monthly, or custom frequencies.

Reports are fired off if for example, a file is modified, a database value is present, an email is received, or a window is open. Dynamic and data driven schedule processes help find parameter values within the database, and generate unique reports for each one.
CRD’s pre and post delivery automation enables the generation of custom actions to run programs, enter values in a database, modify files, and more. Automation schedules can also be used for general business process automation, without running reports. The platform’s intuitive interface facilitates tasks such as defining and scheduling report packages, and includes copy-and-paste support for the creation of complex distribution schedules.
The principal benefit we get from using CRD, is when we produce our month-end invoicing. Not only are we able to produce the output with separate format options (PDF and/or Excel), the invoices can be saved out to a file share using dynamic folder naming for archival purposes. We also deliver the invoices electronically to our customers via the email option. CRD supports the ability to set up multiple SMTP server options, which is very helpful for the invoicing process, to ensure we are sending our invoices through secure methods and can customize the sender Name and email address as necessary.
